In November 2013, Phil Upchurch and his
cooperators created UAFA with the vision that members of the association and
their allied families would have better access to the large family history
collection that was started in the 1950s. A general description of this
collection is given under the Enrolled Families tab shown above on the menu bar.
Going forward, this large resource of materials will be referred to as the UAFA
Collection.
The success and growth of UAFA greatly depends on three resources – available finances, volunteer time, and contributions to the UAFA Collection. For the current status of these resources or to inquire about our mission statement and operating methods and procedures, please contact our headquarters.
In May 2014, UAFA established the Allied Families Research Center headquartered in a facility located at 173 Long Road, Suite 108, Chesterfield, MO 63005. This facility now houses the UAFA Collection and provides office space for the manager and part-time hired associate. Individuals are invited to visit the Allied Families Research Center to confer, volunteer, or inspect the UAFA Collection. For an appointment, contact the manager, Phil Upchurch, at phil@upchurchstory.com or by phone at (636) 898-8516.
Our plans are to expand the UAFA Collection in several ways. As resources permit, more books, manuscripts, maps, and the like are being purchased and added to this collection. Contributions of items, including books and family history collections, are also welcomed under the conditions stipulated in the UAFA Collection Policy. The details of this policy are available upon request. In addition, much of the UAFA Collection will be converted digitally and made available. A variety of categories will exist in the resource collection such as the following:
All items in the UAFA Collection will be separated into a specific category and given sequential numbers preceded by a prefix. Each item in the resource collection will be accompanied by a catalog sheet with descriptors for the item. Please continue to check back under this Resource tab to see the digital resource collection.
